The Caravan
Club
Membership
is for people with caravans, motor caravans or trailer tents. Founded in 1907
the Caravan Club currently has over 300,000 member families and a network
of over 200 sites in the British Isles. In addition there are 3000 Certificated
Locations which are small privately-owned sites taking no more than five vans
at a time.
The Club offers a full range of services and benefits to members, including
technical advice, roadside assistance/recovery, courses, insurance and travel
arrangements for holidays in the United Kingdom and in Europe.
The Club supports a national
network of ten Regions/Divisions and 70 Centres to promote caravanning at
a local level. Each Centre is run by a committee of members who volunteer
their time.
To become a member of the Caravan Club phone the membership
hotline on 01342 318813 or visit their

Upper
Thames Centre
Based
in Oxfordshire, Upper Thames, which came into existence in 1950, is one of
these centres. Our distinctive, well-loved "Mucky Duck" pennant
was designed by Peta Turner and some ladies actually sewed new pennants in
the 1970's to save the centre money.
Today approximately 680 caravanners enjoy full, joint or family membership
with the Centre which provides an all year round programme of caravan rallies
and social events.

Rallies
A
Centre Rally is a gathering of Caravan Club
members to promote friendship, pursue various pleasures/pastimes and enjoy
our common interest - Caravanning.
Centre Members volunteer to organise
and administer rallies which may include socials, competitions or other activities.
The venue for rallies vary from farms, schools to Stately Homes, parks, National
Trust and Forestry Commission property.
In addition to weekend rallies, holiday rallies are organised in the UK and
Europe.
Centre Rallies are open to all members of the Caravan Club - whether or not
they are registered to a local Centre. However, it is necessary to
book at least fourteen days in advance so that the Rally Officer can make
the necessary arrangements. A list of Weekend and Holiday Rallies is published
in the Caravan Club Magazine and on this web site. |
